Pink Rain Boots

I was at the library this morning searching for a new novel to read. A few aisles over from me I heard a little voice singing "It's a small world after all.....it's a small world after all....it's a SMALL world after all.....it's a small WORLD after all...."  Over and over again.  The emphasis on the words changed, but they just kept repeating the same sentence over and over again.  Adorbs!  Of course I had to go investigate.

I turn down the aisle and I see a mother and a little girl.  She looked to be about five or six and she was just as cute as a button.  She had on a white top, blue shorts and pink rain boots.  Even with me there, she kept singing with great gusto and heart: "It's a small world after all....it's a small world after alllllllll....".  I looked at Mom and she gave me an apologetic smile. Apologize for this?  Oh my goodness! I told her she was adorable.

The little girl was singing and doing little twirls in the aisle, all the while looking down at her pink rain boots.  I told her that I LOVED her boots and she stopped and rewarded me with the biggest smile and said "They're new!".  "Well", I said, "They are fabulous!  And, you are quite a good little singer too."  Another big smile!  And then she continued singing and dancing...."It's a SMALL world after all....it's a small world after ALLLLLL....."

Her mom thanked me for noticing and for saying something to her.  She said "They are new and she has not taken them off for the past two weeks!"  Bless her little heart.

As I was driving home thinking about this little girl, I thought:  What a great glimpse of joy I just witnessed.  And then I thought that as we make our way through our life, some days we are wearing the new pink rain boots and some days we want someone to notice our new pink rain boots.  Either way, life can be just so full of joy!

  2. I get the feeling that little girl had,and with that said, if I see someone, stranger, friend or worker, I will compliment them. Pants, ring, necklace, bag, etc. And I'm always rewarded with a great big pink boot smileπŸ’—

  5. In a world where everyone is sooo worried about how others perceive them, it's a blessing to see someone just being who God created them to be. Like I tell my kids. Be yourself because everyone else is already taken. Just like Jesus said, if we could live and see this world through the eyes of a child. God bless Ms. Janet. Tibb
